Weber-ADOPTED!

We’re pretty sure you won’t find a sweeter dog than Weber! This gorgeous 7 month-old Retriever mix pup had a very rough past but that sure hasn’t dampened his love for people and enthusiasm for life in general. Weber was an owner surrender at an overcrowded rural county dog shelter along with his brother Clayton. These dogs had not been well cared for in the past as both were rail thin when they arrived and very timid. In addition, Weber walked with a significant limp on one of his back legs and seemed to be in pain on a regular basis. X-rays at our vet revealed that he had an old break in one of his legs near the hip joint which had knocked the bone of the hip socket. It seems that his previous owner left the break untreated so the bone had healed on its own. Our vet was able to perform femoral head ostectomy (FHO) surgery to repair his hip joint and the transformation in Weber since his surgery a few weeks ago has been tremendous. Now that he has been given the all-clear to play with other dogs, Weber is having the time of his life. He loves playing and wrestling with his fellow foster dogs and would enjoy having a canine pal in his new home who is about his size or smaller. Weber enjoys going for walks on the leash and is now free to go on lots of walks and hikes to build up the muscle in that back leg. He has excellent crate manners in his foster home so should be able to master the housetraining rules quickly in his new home. This puppy has made a huge number of friends since arriving at Canine Lifeline and is truly a fan favorite! Everyone is rooting for him and can’t wait to see him enjoying life to the max in his new home. Weber weighs about 25 pounds currently but is still growing and may be about 40 pounds or so when full-grown. His adoption fee is $250. He’s neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email info@caninelifeline.org if you’re interested in Weber. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. Please note that we don’t place our dogs in homes with children under 7 years of age. We try to respond to inquiries within 72 hours so if you haven’t heard from us within that time frame, please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there. Weber’s FHO surgery cost about $800.
