Winky

Meet Winky, a spunky 1 year-old German Shepherd mix girl who’s had a rough start in life but isn’t letting that get her down. This active and energetic young dog was adopted from a shelter as a puppy but recently returned when her family could no longer keep her. From the shelter, Winky made the trip to Canine Lifeline so she could enjoy life in a foster home while she searched for a permanent new home. Winky was born with an undeveloped right eye. Upon her arrival here with us, the vet determined that the best course of action would be to remove what little tissue existed in the eye socket and sew it shut. Winky’s pics were taken about 2 weeks after her surgery and she is doing great. Since she has always only had vision in one eye, she hasn’t missed a beat. Winky loves playing with other dogs and would be happiest in a home where she would have an active canine to pal around with 24/7. She has been working on crate-training in her foster home and will need to continue that and her housetraining in her new home. With some patience and consistency and following the lead of a resident dog, Winky is sure to pick up the house rules quickly.  Winky hasn’t had much obedience training to date but she is exceptionally food-motivated so should be a quick study. She’s sure to be a great companion for the person or family who has the time and patience to devote to a young dog who’s eager to experience how wonderful a dog’s life can and should be. Winky weighs about 43 pounds and her adoption fee is $250. She’s spayed, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email info@caninelifeline.org if you’re interested in Winky. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. We have no foster homes with young children so aren’t comfortable placing any of them in a home with children less than 7 years of age. We try to respond to inquiries within 72 hours so if you haven’t heard from us within that time frame, please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.
