Meet Yoda, a sweet and loving 5 year-old neutered male German Shepherd who has lived quite a difficult life but now has the chance to become a true canine VIP—very important pup!—under the loving care of a new family. Yoda was living in a home in deplorable conditions with a number of small dogs and cats. The animals were apparently never let outside so you can imagine what was found when authorities went into the home after the owner died. In spite of having endured a miserable existence, Yoda is bright, cheerful, and very engaged with people. He came into the shelter with his skin and coat in horrible condition but after some TLC there, he began to look and feel so much better. Yoda still has a way to go to reach his ideal weight and for his dry and brittle coat to regain its shine and lustre but he’s mending a little more every day both in health and spirit and is eager to now find a true forever home where he’ll be a treasured member of his family. Yoda would benefit from having a home where his family is around much of the time to get him used to his new surroundings and let him outside frequently as he learns the house rules. He gets along well with other dogs and kitties too so ought to be fine sharing his home with some furry companions. Yoda has been working on crate-training in his foster home and will need to continue that in his adoptive home. He walks quite well on a leash for a big guy and will also eagerly sit for a yummy treat when asked. Yoda is very food-motivated and can catch treats on the fly like a real pro. He’s a real example of the true resilience of dogs and we look forward to helping him live his very best life going forward. Yoda weighs about 70 pounds currently but is thin and needs to gain about 10 pounds to reach his ideal weight. His adoption fee is $250. He’s neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email info@caninelifeline.org if you’re interested in Yoda. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs.
