Zeke-ADOPTED!

Zeke is a super-cute 1 year-old Beagle/Terrier mix male who we wish could tell us his story. This little guy came into a rural county dog shelter as a stray with a dog who was thought to be his littermate. When they weren’t claimed, both dogs made the trip to Canine Lifeline so they could relax in a foster home while searching for permanent new homes. Zeke’s brother Chip was relaxed and friendly from the minute he arrived but Zeke was terrified, wanting to avoid people and keep to himself. Chip was adopted very quickly but Zeke’s fearfulness held him back. His foster mom has been giving him the time and space he needs to feel comfortable with her and he is now her best buddy. Zeke is the type of dog who can’t be rushed into making friends with someone. He will come around on his own terms so will need a quiet, mature, adult-only home who will give him the space to relax and adjust to his new surroundings. Zeke’s crate is his safe space so he will need to have one in his adoptive home. He has excellent crate manners so should be easy to housetrain in his new home. Zeke is now learning what a leash is all about and beginning to enjoy going for short walks. He has done fine with other dogs so might benefit from having a calm canine buddy in his new home to show him the ropes. It is essential that Zeke has a yard with a secure aboveground fence so that he feels safe at home. This little guy is more than worth the effort. As his foster mom can attest, Zeke is a very friendly, loving, playful little guy once he feels comfortable with someone new. Zeke weighs about 20 pounds and his adoption fee is $250. He’s neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email info@caninelifeline.org if you’re interested in Zeke. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. Please note that we don’t place our dogs in homes with children under 7 years of age.
