Meet Zeus, a 1 year-old Black Lab mix male with lots of energy and a sweet, friendly disposition. He was found by a good Samaritan in a rural area and when no owner was located was shelter bound when a rescuer asked us for help with him. Zeus made the trip to Canine Lifeline and is now looking for a great new home. Zeus is an active young dog who will need a home where he will get plenty of exercise and training. He does know the sit command and has excellent crate manners so should be pick up the housetraining routine quickly in his new home. He’s a quick learner and very food-motivated so working with him should be a rewarding experience. Zeus does like to take his humans for a walk so will need work on his leash manners. An EZ-Walk harness is recommended as he works on his leash skills. Zeus gets along well with other dogs so might enjoy having another canine pal in his new home. He weighs about 70 pounds and his adoption fee is $200. Zeus is neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations, wormed, on flea preventative, and microchipped. We have no foster homes with young children so aren’t comfortable placing any of them in a home with children less than 4-5 years of age. Zeus is such a handsome, friendly dog. I had fun walking him at petco. He was very excited, so did pull a bit, but settled nicely and was very good with other pups, esp. Ozzie, whom my daughter was walking. He is stately and regal-looking, and I bet the lucky family who adopts him will be stopped frequently for requests to pet this handsome dog. I hope his “just right” family comes to meet him soon and gives him a loving forever home, as I know Zeus will be “hopelessly devoted” to them!
Zeus is a gorgeous big boy who appears to be your typical young Lab – strong, wanting exercise and affection. He was too big for me to walk but I did help during his bath. For his size and being nervous, he did very well and let me hold and pet his head as the other volunteer bathed him.
Walked Mr Zeus at Petco on Sunday. What a dapper young man he is! Very good around everyone including other dogs. He is a very strong young man, with lots of power in those long legs! He(or his humans) would definitely benefit from a Gentle Leader or Easy Walk harness, because he just wants to go, go, go!! A sweet and playful boy like a typical lab!
