Zeus is a very handsome and outgoing 2.5 year-old Black Lab mix male. He originally came to us in March 2017 from a rural county dog shelter and was adopted a few months later. He was in his new home for 9 months and did great there except that he became quite protective of his home. Given the circumstances with the neighbors, his family wasn’t able to work with him on that so he came back to us so that we could find a more suitable home for him. Zeus has so many great qualities—he’s very affectionate and loyal to his humans, great with other dogs, housetrained (although may need a refresher for a day or two in his new home), crate-trained, and knows some commands too. He is a strong dog on the leash so will need someone who is able to work with him on that. Using an EasyWalk  harness with him helps immensely and makes walks much more enjoyable. Zeus would likely do fine in a home with a canine pal or two but should also do well as the only dog in the home. He will need a home with a secure aboveground fenced yard and an owner who has the time and patience to work with him on his desire to protect his home and family. A quiet home with few visitors would be ideal for him. Outside of the home environment, Zeus hasn’t shown overprotective tendencies and is a big, goofy dog who seems to love everyone he meets. He also loves riding in the car and is always up for a good game of fetch. Zeus weighs about 80 pounds and his adoption fee is $250. He’s neutered, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea and tick preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email info@caninelifeline.org if you’re interested in Zeus. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. We have no foster homes with young children so aren’t comfortable placing any of them in a home with children less than 7 years of age. We try to respond to inquiries within 72 hours so if you haven’t heard from us within that time frame, please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there.
